What to do in Benidorm with children for an incredible holiday?
Our priority as parents is always the well-being and happiness of our children, also when we plan our holidays. If you want them to enjoy their next holidays to the fullest, we will show you what to do in Benidorm with your children to spend a few days they won´t forget!
1. A day at the beach
Going to Benidorm is synonymous with the beach, so you can’t miss a day or so on the beach. It is true that in summer some are somewhat overcrowded, but there are others and small coves that are much quieter and we invite you to get to know them. Think that it is an excellent plan in summer, but also at any other time of the year thanks to the warm climate of the area.
But going to the beach does not only mean swimming and enjoying the sun. It is a perfect opportunity to play, do some sport and also to learn. Sand castles, races in and out of the water, and playing paddleball are some of the activities you can do. But in addition, in Benidorm you will also be able to practice water sports: diving and discovering the sea bottom, renting a scooter, enjoying paddle surfing or enjoying a unique activity such as the Benidorm cable ski will be very healthy ways of having fun.
And where to enjoy all this? On the best beaches of Benidorm, of course!
2. Discover Benidorm Island
This is a plan that is certainly not expected and one of the most original things to do with children in Benidorm. Few people know that the island of Benidorm can be visited and enjoy an excursion, at least, very curious.
The island of Benidorm is a sort of extension of the Sierra Helada Natural Park and is a little paradise in itself. A boat trip to the island will be the best adventure for your children. They will be able to observe the different sea birds that nest in the area and in addition the passage by boat to the island can be done in a boat with underwater vision to be able to contemplate the schools of fish, all an experience that will leave the mouths of the little ones open!
3. An excursion through the Sierra Helada
Another plan you can make with children in Benidorm is an excursion to the Sierra Helada, we recommend that it is early morning or late afternoon if it is hot. You can reach the “Faro del Albir” and see the famous Peñón de Ifach. There are some cliffs, but the area is not dangerous if you do the tour taking the basic precautions.
The route is not complicated either and the main route can be done with the little ones without any problem.
4. Bicycle routes
The town of Benidorm is very well prepared for cycling routes. Few unevennesses, green areas and nature, well signposted cycle paths, everything you need! There are also a number of bicycle routes for children that the whole family can take. Besides, it is not necessary to take the bikes with you, you will find plenty of options to rent them in the area.
In this case we also recommend you to avoid the main hours of the day, especially in summer, so that the excursion is pleasant and safe for the children. Remember to choose the route well and don’t forget to be equipped with safety equipment and carry water.
5. Visit the L´Aiguera Park
It is located in the heart of Benidorm and many consider it to be the heart of the town. It starts at the top of the town, right next to the Plaza de Toros, and ends almost at the beach, at the doors of the Town Hall. It was designed by the well known architect Ricardo Bofill in the nineties and in addition to the Town Hall, it houses the Julio Iglesias Auditorium, a tribute to this international artist.
In the park you can enjoy an afternoon of relaxation in the open air, games or even a family picnic. It has children’s play areas, large green spaces, tables, etc.
6. On the road with the Tourist Bus
If you are still wondering what to see in Benidorm with children, we recommend a tour in one of the tourist buses. They are a good option in case you have a cloudy day on your holiday, although they are very rare! It is also a good option for those days when you are more tired or want to enjoy a quieter plan.
Some of them include tours to nearby towns, such as Altea or El Albir. Not only can you buy a ticket for a single tour, you can also get a tourist card that allows you to move around the area without additional costs.
7. Discover the “Mirador del Castillo”
You already know some options to contemplate the best views of the area, but you cannot miss two other viewpoints. The first one is Sant Jaume, from where you can see both the Levante Beach and the Sierra Helada, you can reach this area from the Calle Mayor. And, not far away is the Plaza de Santa Ana where you can find the Mirador del Castillo, from which you can see the Playa de Poniente. You can also see the boats leaving the port for Benidorm Island and Tabarca.
The climb to the miradors is also the perfect opportunity to discover the city centre and its old town.
8. Fun in the city’s Theme Parks and Zoos
If you’re still wondering where to go in Benidorm with children, visiting one of the theme parks or zoos is an option they’re sure to love.
You have several options depending on what you want to do. On summer days, you can’t miss going to spend the day at one of its water parks: Aqualandia and AquaNatura are the two that you can find in the city. As an amusement park you have Terra Mítica, with a great offer of attractions for the little ones and, if you are looking for zoos in Mundomar and Terra Natura you will have the perfect opportunity to learn about life, nature and animals.
9. Go on an excursion to a nearby town or village
The villages on the Costa Blanca have a very special Mediterranean charm, are very welcoming and most can be visited in a day. If you are in Benidorm on holiday, why not take the opportunity to discover some of them? Altea, Guadalest, Jávea, Benissa or Calpe are just some of them, you will love them!
10. Go camping!
A very special way to enjoy Benidorm with children is to go camping. Here they can make many plans and activities that they could not do in other types of accommodation. Playing with other children, enjoying children’s entertainment, playing in the swimming pool, making recipes in your bungalow or other crafts… It will be a different and fun holiday!
Now that you know everything you can do with children in Benidorm, we are waiting for you all!
