Why do you need to know where to dive in Alicante?
You are interested in where to dive in Alicante because it is undoubtedly one of the best places to dive not only in Spain, but also in the whole of Europe. This is not just our opinion, but the opinion of many experts. The climate, the tranquillity of the waters and their transparency make the perfect environment to enjoy what for many is their favourite activity.
Another reason why Alicante is perfect for diving is that it has kilometres of coastline and you can also discover different marine reserves, rocky seabeds and the extension under the sea of the mountains in the area. In addition, its fauna is also spectacular, with countless species that will allow you to enjoy an unforgettable adventure.
When is it best to dive in Alicante?
It is true that Alicante accumulates a lot of sunny days, but the truth is that in winter the water is cold and if you decide to dive, you will have to be prepared so that the temperature is not a problem.
In any case, you can dive all year round without any problems. Look for a day when the sea is calm and bear in mind that you can enjoy warm waters not only in summer, but also in most of spring and autumn. In fact, these two seasons are ideal, as the weather is usually good and there are not as many tourists as at other times of the year.
Where to dive in Alicante and enjoy an amazing day?
The truth is that Alicante has countless areas to dive, in fact, you can do it in practically all the coast, but as it is obvious there are better places than others, for our part we recommend you all these places:
- Torrevieja. It is one of the best known tourist resorts in the province and is the destination of a large number of holidaymakers all year round. The beaches and the hustle and bustle of its streets attract many people. It is an ideal area for beginners in scuba diving, as the waters are very calm.
- Benidorm. Benidorm has several different areas in which to dive. The best known is La Llosa, located in the surroundings of Benidorm Island. It has a depth of around 30 metres and has considerable marine flora and fauna. Very close by is Los Arcos, which allows you to contemplate some very beautiful coral walls. You can descend some 20 metres and it runs parallel to the island. Lastly, we would highlight Punta Garbí, which is ideal for divers who are just starting out. The seabed has many sandy areas and the descent is about 20 metres.
- Altea. All we can say about Altea is that it is one of the most beautiful towns in Alicante. It is a fishing village with an old town that is well worth a visit. It is also perfect for diving. In fact, it is the place chosen by many for their first dives. If you choose this destination, don’t miss the Elephant Cave and the Dwarf Cave. Discover more coves in Altea.
- El Campello. Right next to Alicante is this town, which offers waters that are ideal for diving. It has an artificial reef in the Lloma dels Reixex. In the area there are different coves where you can dive or even snorkel.
- Jávea. This is one of the places not to be missed if you visit the province and where you can enjoy a day’s diving. It has sandy seabeds and protected coves for less experienced divers. If you are more experienced, you can explore the coral reefs or the tunnels that lead to posidonia meadows. You will find that the area is a popular destination for divers, as it is one of the best destinations you can choose from.
- Isla de Tabarca. We cannot finish our tour without one of the best places to dive. We are referring to the only inhabited Valencian island: Tabarca. It was once a pirate hideout and you will be delighted to see the vestiges that still remain in the area. Its seabed is highly protected, which makes it even more interesting. You will be able to see moray eels, octopus and rays when you dive into its waters.
